Chromatography as a Separation Technique

Chromatography is  an  analytical technique used to separate the components of a chemical mixture by moving the mixture along a stationary material. Different components of the mixture are caught by the material at different rates and form isolated bands .chromatography  is of two types  analytical and preparative. Analytical chromatography is used to measure the relative proportions of analytes  in the mixture.Based upon the  mechanisms  and state of the mobile phase chromatography is of different techniques. One of the important technique is HPLC  which is used in bioinformatics  forensic sciences.Other  chromatographic  separation techniques are gas chromatography, ion exchange chromatography, liquid chromatography etc.
